This feeder has many uses. We most recently used the feeder to assist in the rehabilitation of several extremely thin rescued mares. The feeder allowed us to safely provide multiple small rations throughout the day to expedite weight gain safely and without worry. It also eliminates boredom, as the horses are intermittently alerted when they hear the next portion being offered.

When my pony was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance, I needed to change his diet to include low starch hay cubes and chopped forage. To be most effective multiple daily feedings were needed, but I could not find a convenient way to do this. That’s when I discovered the X5-CD Automatic Feed Dispenser. Now I have peace of mind knowing that my pony is getting fed at regular intervals (approximately every 2 hours) during the course of the day, mimicking a horse’s natural grazing pattern. This change in his feeding pattern has clearly helped in keeping his insulin levels more in normal range.
